Turnaround Time:

Routine: 3 working days / Urgent: 1 working day

Please see MPO or PR3 entry for further information.

Indicated in investigation of vasculitis. Two staining patterns recognised: c-ANCA and p-ANCA. c-ANCA – with PR3/proteinase 3 antibody specificity, is associated with Wegener’s granulomatosis; p-ANCA – with MPO/myeloperoxidase antibody specificity, is associated with microscopic polyarteritis, especially limited renal disease. Titre of antibody helpful in predicting clinical relapse and/or effect of treatment. Positive IIF results, without PR3 or MPO antibody specificity, may occur in other forms of vasculitis, some bowel diseases, infections and malignancy.

Vessels and Containers:

Serum gold-top

Sample Requirements:

500µl serum

How result is reported:

Indirect immunofluorescence/IIF reported as positive (with titre) or negative. ELISA for MPO and PR3: Negative: 0 - 5 U/ml Weak positivie: 6 - 10 U/ml Postive: 11 - 60 U/ml Strong positive: 60 U/ml
