Borderline = 14 - 20 RU/ml
Positive = >20 RU/ml

Turnaround Time:

14 Working Days

Internal test code - PLA2

Indication: Primary (idiopathic) membranous nephropathy

Background: Autoantibodies against the podocyte protein M-type phospholipase A2 receptor (PLA2R) can be detected in approximately 70% of patients with primary or idiopathic membranous nephropathy. There is some evidence that levels of anti-PLA2R autoantibodies correlate with disease activity and response to treatment. Higher levels of anti-PLA2R could predict those more likely to recur after renal transplantation. This test is not a substitute for renal biopsy.

Method: Enzyme Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay (ELISA)

Repeat Frequency: Not within 3 months of previous test.
