The HLA-B27 allele is found in approximately 9% of the caucasian population and is strongly correlated with the development of several rheumatic diseases including Ankylosing Spondylitis, Reiters Syndrome and other spondyloarthropathies. A positive result with relavent clinical symptoms helps a clinician diagnose HLA-B27 related autoimmune disorders. HLA genotyping is carried out using real time PCR

Sample Requirements:

4ml blood in EDTA (purple top) Vacuette.

Specimens in transit should comply with UN3373 under ADR (The European agreement concerning the international carriage of dangerous goods by road)
